Mermaid Gwen and Dolphin - Sixth Dream

Mermaid art and story by Robert Kline

This mermaid print is available in the following matted sizes (entire matted size): 5" x 7", 8" x 10" and 11" x 14" and an 11" x 17" that comes unmatted on a piece of 1/4" foam board.

This beautiful mermaid (Sea Maiden) swimming with dolphins art and story are from a collection of Sea Maidens (mermaids), Sea Babies (mermaid babies), Sea Masters (merman), pirateslighthouses and fairies created by renowned artist and novelist Robert Kline of St. Augustine, Florida.  The print is a lithograph reproduction of Robert's original watercolor and pencil painting. Hand labeled and signed by Robert in pencil, all the prints come with a 1/4" foam backing and the 5" x 7", 8" x 10", 11" x 14" are matted so all you need is a frame and they are ready to hang on your wall! Each print also comes with an excerpt from Robert’s novel The Forgotten Voyage of H.M.S. Baci. A fantastic saga in which multiple generations of the Roberts’ family explore the seven seas in search of the world’s mermaid and merman population. Thus, you will receive the passage from Robert's novel describing the particular event in which the character(s) in the print were sighted. The following is the excerpt for this image Gwen's Sixth Dream.

Gwen’s sixth dream (the image following Gwen’s last dream), is the beginning of a sub series of paintings depicting Sea Maidens (mermaids), aquatic creatures and their offspring as related in Gwen’s journal chronicling her trip to the rain forests of Guatemala in 2014, and painted by Bradley Edwin Robert Roberts. She avers that her mental state was taxed to the extreme on her “entomological pilgrimage” with the contemporary Roberts lad and thus nightly found solace in her dreams. This particular series depicts her dreams of Seam Maidens in the company of dolphins, manatee sea turtles and their children.

I’m feeling an overwhelming obligation to take just a moment here to interject myself and relay an inconvenience I sometimes experience: As the de facto curator of this tangle if images and notes spanning close to ten generations of the Roberts family Saga (from the 1600’s to the present) there are times when I find myself precariously close to the chasm of profound confusion. (Rest assured this is not one of those moments) However….several armature historians have recently taken upon themselves to roundly criticize my dating of the paintings I have variously referred to as Gwen’s or Kat’s Dreams. These critics pronounce my at tribulation of the images as incorrect and not from the brush of Bradley Edwin Robert Roberts during his recent adventure to Central America; rather, they claim they were obviously originated a hundred years earlier during Edmund C. Roberts’ 1910 circumnavigation on the Baci Finale in search of the veritable Sea Maidens, Masters and Children. In my learned but humble opinion, they err to the cusp of folly. The style is patently that of the current Roberts (B.E.R.R.) and surely not of his great, great grandfather, the pioneer aviator of the early 1900’s (E.C.R.). The style is so glaringly different as to be obvious to anyone with their eyes open. (A semi-comatose child glancing at the images from the window of an Amtrak train speeding by them on a dark, rainy, night could see the difference). And while I always entertain scholarly dissension----no matter how wrong headed, ignorant or mean-spirted---to those critics I do declare, “Poppycock!”
